When you’re considering male breast reduction, your choice of plastic surgeon is critical. Of course patients should research doctors prior to any surgical procedure, but gynecomastia surgery is especially challenging and requires significant expertise.
That’s why we treat guys from across the globe right here in New York. Gynecomastia surgery at its best produces masculine contours that harmonize with the rest of the body, without craters, lumps or noticeable scars. Dr. Jacobs has achieved these results for thousands of patients—teens, older men, body builders, post weight loss patients and others.
How We Got Started in Gynecomastia Surgery
Dr. Elliot Jacobs became interested in helping guys with enlarged breasts about thirty years ago. With an already established practice in Manhattan performing plastic surgery for the body, breast and face, Dr. Jacobs noted that women weren’t the only ones who wanted to change their shape. He found growing numbers of men were seeking help for man boobs, and the techniques being used at the time were not necessarily producing great results.
As guys came to our offices for gynecomastia consultations, or for revision surgery, Dr. Jacobs and his team became inspired to focus on this group of patients. He designed his own special slender instruments that could accomplish both liposuction and gland excision. Thus, he began to develop a reputation for achieving pleasing results with a minimum of tissue trauma and tiny scars that are most often barely noticeable.
Today, Dr. Jacobs is very widely recognized as an expert in male breast reduction. He is frequently tapped for interviews by broadcast and print media. He has written professional articles about gynecomastia and related topics and lectured around the world. His book, Mantalk, offers guys tips for great looks and good health.
Dr. Jacobs is proud to be a native of the “Big Apple.” He graduated from respected Stuyvesant High School and from Queens College and the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency in general surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital, continued as a resident and was ultimately named chief resident in plastic surgery. After serving in the U.S. Air Force, Dr. Jacobs opened his private plastic surgery practice in Manhattan.
Dr. Jacobs holds certification from the American Board of Plastic Surgery, the gold standard for plastic surgery credentials in the U.S. His other memberships and credentials include:
- Member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons
- Member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
- Fellow of the American College of Surgeons
- Fellow of the International College of Surgeons
- Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners
From music to gardening, sports to photography, Dr. Jacobs is a man of many interests. He is an avid supporter of theater and the arts, and his artistic sense contributes enormously to the results he achieves for his gynecomastia patients.
